If you have all your files backed up, and your computer has all the patches, you will be fine. 75 million computers have been updated so far, only a small percentage experienced issues. Computers aren't broken because of the update.

The only reason there are so many problems with Windows 10 upgrades from other consumers is because they didn't check the drivers for their machine. That's 90% of the actual problems people are having: driver issues. There are always going to be people that experience issues, and those people that throw a fit about it online are the ones who blow the problem entirely out of proportion as if everyone is experiencing them. I have yet to experience a single major issue on Windows 10 since I upgraded all my machines to it the day of launch.
I say upgrade and ignore the people telling you that there are major problems or that it's spyware masked as an operating system, because neither is actually true.
