Something is wrong with your soundcard?

I have this Lenovo Ideapad bought very recently. It has worked perfectly well right until today. I was forced to install security updates, which i did. Afterwards i have no sound, Spotify states that something is wrong with my sound card. I've looked through a guide on the Microsoft website asking to look in Device management (Not sure this is the correct translation). Anyway it lists the following devices:

Conexant SmartAudio HD
Intel sound for screen

Both are working correctly according to my computer. Does anyone know what to do?

Right click the speaker icon and open playback devices.
Make sure your speakers of choice (built in -perhaps and not headphones or external speakers, etc. Are selected as the default speakers.

Also, open control panel and view sound and audio management panels to look for problems there. The update may not have caused the problem as it
was a security update, not a driver oriented process.
Today a pc can have several sound output devices, recording devices, Wi-Fi access points, etc. You have to select the one you want to use and make it the default device.
If you recently plugged in headphones and used them, then they are now the active output and will have to be changed as above.
