What should I do about my Lenovo Laptop?

I have a Lenovo E430 and the computer can't recognize the battery after I updated the computer's BIOS. Now I have two choices. Either buy a new battery and try it on my computer, to see if the battery is recognized, or go to a Lenovo Partner and pay them to fix the computer. The first choice costs 99 Canadian Dollars. The Second choice has a flat fee of 86 dollars plus 94 dollars every hour. I can't find the previous BIOS that my computer was using before the update. The BIOS I have now is 2.54. If anyone can find the previous version please help.

I believe that Lenovo E430 will not accept any other battery than their own brand battery. You could try a sfc scan that searches for and fixes corrupt or missing system files bring up Command Prompt and type in sfc /scannow [gap between c and / ] and press enter on keyboard and let scan run, it will tell you at end if fixed anything.
