The other person said Dell, and the only thing Dell has coming for themselves is the XPS. It's a high performance machine, and it's pretty good I must say, but for a price. But that's pretty much it. Anything else besides the XPS, Dell suffers greatly in terms of quality. No one gets Dells, especially college students.

Lenovos on the other hand (my hand, to be exact) are the better option. It has all classes of computers/laptops, fit for all kinds of users. Whether you are a gamer, business, or just looking for a home computer, Lenovo has all the options and is a great manufacturer. Prices are exceptional, as I got a gaming Lenovo for $750 (worth maybe $1000 if other brands). Lenovos are built nice. My friend has one as well.

Lenovo is not the old IBM, it is a company that took over the laptop branch of IBM. Therefore, they are the new IBM Very Happy

Dell blows, and the VAIO is unreliable. At work, I have to repair laptops all the time and the Thinkpads are in for repair very rarely. We have one or more Dells fail per week. There are no VAIOs, because the company had some bad experiences with them before I worked there (even though we were offered a great deal…)

Just make sure your laptop does not get stolen or anything. Two of my cousins' laptops were stolen in their dorm. It is very easy to pick up a textbook-sized laptop and just walk away with it. I recommend setting a BIOS password and putting an "If laptop found, cash reward" sticker on it. That way, it will get stolen and unless the theif is a pro with computers, they will not be able to get in (or know how to reset BIOS on a laptop) and will return it, thinking they will get away with the reward.

Hp is the king of laptops… Lenovo is cheap and best… I f you like status prestige brand… Then its absolutely gygantic hewlet Packard

I like the Macbook pro.
Hate to say but I use to be a die hard windows geek.
Till I got fed up with all the attacks on a computer on the net and jumped fence.
Since last year March I have not had to do one scan disk for any reason or have a virus program installed or scan for one.
