Which laptop is better for an engineering student? Lenovo y50 or Lenovo yoga 2 pro?

I'm a freshman engineering student and I'm looking for a laptop that is powerful yet light and has a good battery life. I have been going back and forth between the y50 and the yoga 2 pro for a long time. The y50 has much better graphics and faster processing but the yoga is much more portable and has a longer battery life. Any suggestions on which one to choose?

Yoga is great for notes, especially if you use "one note."

If you do any gaming the yoga will be slightly disappointing but will manage will less graphics intensive games. The Y50 is absolutely capable of running modern games on low to medium (maybe high) depending on high resolution.

If you're a design, civil, or mechanical engineering student both will run all you CAD and MATLAB programs just fine. I'm considering the same two for my next laptop. I'm thinking of doing the yoga pro 2 bc only game I play is kerbal space program.

Have fun engineering school is awesome.
