I use a laptop to do work occasionally but mostly for things like twitter, netflix, youtube, skype, and a few games like minecraft. I would like to play gta on pc too. Here is what i've narrowed it down to:

Looking at the specs i would choose the lenovo one because it has full HD which makes a difference in screen quality. It has less ram tho with it only having 8gb compared to the HP one with 16gb so it won't be as good for gaming. I personally like HD and when you see an HD screen compared to a nonHD screen you don't even want to look at the nonHD one. Oh and it will still work for gaming you just have to lower the settings depending on the game

If the GTA you mentioned is GTA-5, then neither of these laptops even meet the minimum requirements. So you wouldn't be able to play even on the lowest settings possible.
As for skype and other internet things you mentioned, any $300 (USD), or 192 british pounds laptop, should be able to do those effectively.

I would say you are better off buliding a desktop for that price point if you want to play gta 5 you will need to buy a mid to high end labtop as for skype any the mid to low end will do
