Why am i having good fps but frequent minor lag spikes?

I have a lenovo y50-70 and i play with high fps and frequent lag spikes. I'm not sure to return the laptop or try to fix it. When i play skyrim i still get lag spikes but way less than minecraft and rust. Is this fixable, do i have a defective product? Please let me know

My guess is HDD interaction during the game. The accelerated HDD cache helps in frequently run programs, but I'm guessing it does not take mid-game HDD interaction as worthy to be on the small SSD.

It is possible you also have background programs that cause it.
Install GameBooster, and see if it runs better or worse. If worse, uninstall it.
