Why doesn't my iphone 6 internal storage show up on my PC? Any one else had this problem?

I plugged my iphone 6 into my Lenovo laptop. It recognises the device. I click on "internal storage" and it shows empty. But I have photos and videos on the iphone, so I know there's storage.
