This may sound really strange but my computer is beeping when I type the word was. It is only the word was and nothing else. I have a Lenovo Thinkpad Twist with an operating system of Windows 8.1 if that helps.

If its a loptop try an external keyboard if its a desktop try replacing your keyboard.

When you type the word "Was" the "a" is right next to the Caps Lock on most keyboards and when you accidentally hit the "a" key you maybe also hitting the Caps Lock key and that makes a beep on some computers including mine.
Only a thought from me though!
