Why won't minecraft work on my computer?

Hi, so I downloaded minecraft today, and when I try to play it it says "unable to download mineraft". I have windows 7 and a lenovo T410 thinkpad. I tried uninstalling and re installing and I tried restaring my computer and nothing works. Please help I already bought it and I don't want my money wasted!

Make sure you are the administrator, if that doesn't work try turning off realtime scanning on your antivirus software. Also what are your system specs? I'm not sure that laptop can actually run minecraft

Minecraft is Java based, so you have Java installed? If you have 64-bit Windows, you may need to manually download/install 64-bit Java for best operation, since by default Internet Explorer is 32-bit.

I'm assuming that you downloaded the minecraft launcher from minecraft.net and have a working internet connection when you try to launch it. But that is just a launcher which initially needs to download a bunch of files and current minecraft version. I hadn't played it for awhile and when I recently tried it and it was downloading 1.8.1 I did run into a glitch where the download did not complete, but I just reloaded minecraft and if finshed up and ran fine. Although, I normally run it in Linux instead of Windows.

I hate it i really want to play minecraft dut all my friend have a way to play it but not me.
