On my Lenovo laptop, I got a virus about WebSearchMania. I went into the registry editor and deleted anything I felt suspicious. When i finished, the first thing i noticed was that google chrome stopped working. I proceeded to restart my laptop. When Windows was loading again, it took longer than usual. When it loaded, the lock screen was blue and it had random characters. When i tried to log in, it would say random characters and would take me back to the lock screen.

I would go back to a Restore Point prior to the onset of the problems. Type RESTORE POINT in the Start screen, tap Enter, click Create A Restore Point, then System Restore.

I agree, use System Restore to revert the computer to a date before you meddled with the registry.

Use the F8 key to go back to a restore point. You press it right after the BIOS screen.
