Would putting an SSD in an external optical drive be worth it?

I want to buy a lenovo y50 laptop but it has only 1 hdd bays, so i was thinking, this laptop doesn't have an optical drive but it comes with an external one. What speeds would i get from an ssd if i were to put it in a Sata to optical drive adapter in the external optical drive?
(Like this one: https://www.amazon.com/...004XIUQYA)
Would it still be faster than an internal hard drive? (Ofc it would be connected to a USB 3.0).
Hope this makes sense!

I'm pretty sure you put discs (CD, DVD, ect.) into optical drives.
You might want an external storage drive enclosure…

And i'm pretty sure you didn't understand my question, i'm not trying to put an SSD in an optical drive, i want to swap out the optical drive to a SATA adapter like the one i linked…

Being a SSD it will be faster than the HDD
Then you would have to get an optical drive which would be external if you needed to have one.
I would think that it would be better to use your HDD for the OS and then the SSD for things like games where it would need to read the data fast
