Would this be a good computer for college?

This may be a stupid question but I'm going to college next year and I need a laptop. I really like the Lenovo Y510p Laptop and it's a good price. All the reviews are saying that this is a gaming laptop. I'm not a hardcore gamer so I don't care about that. Would this be a good laptop for college for a computer science major? I would be using this computer for homework for the most part. I think that this laptop has all the right specs and memory for the best price but I don't want it to be specifically a gaming laptop. Thanks in advance

For normal word processing and internet surfing, it will do. It will be good for typing reports and running some normal software.

Nothing is showing up for the specs. May I suggest an Asus S46CA http://www.asus.com/.../overview/ which runs used from $500, but can be purchased new for about $899. Yes it's expensive, but you'll need to handle powerful programs, important documents, and research essays. It has an i5 processor if I recollect correctly. Look at the specs and decide what you think. Try to get something similar, but for a cheaper price if you can.
