Would this laptop run games?

I'm mostly looking for a computer for school just to do basic things, but it would also be nice if it could run some online games (like World of Warcraft or Rift for example). Is this powerful enough or should I be looking at higher priced items? I know this isn't the best model I could get but I don't have a large budget.

Added (1). Thanks for the quick responses, what should I be looking for in a graphics card? I might wait a few months so I can save more money to invest in something better, but what should I look for when I do?

Well basic games only since the integrated graphics (HD4000) is pretty weak. Don't expect modern games to even run at acceptable FPS. Both WoW and Rift will run find though but be aware that this laptop isn't futureproof. You might want to consider something slightly better, possibly a laptop with a dedicated graphics card if you're willing to play modern games.

The MMO genre specifically has lower requirements, that said you will probably want something with a real graphics card. The 'Intel GMA HD Graphics' will hold you back. I would recommend searching for something for a hundred or two more with a decent graphics card, an i5, and maybe even a bit more RAM.

Cheers and Good luck

The computer is good for school but when you are looking ahead your going to be buying alot of computers. The term "future proofing" a computer means that you make the computer very very powerful so that it will take years for the "standard" of computers to reach where your computer specs are.

I would think that you should go just a bit higher if you possibly can. But really for games like WoW or Rift you don't need very many requirements. And that is for most MMO's.

Just know what your looking for. If you think that maybe once and a while you might hop on to a single player game this computer will fall to peaces (not literally) when you do that. It doesn't have a great graphics card mainly.

But essentially my final point is:

Know what your getting into when you buy a computer. Doing lots of research and knowing EXACTLY what you want from a new computer is always best. It sets your expectations and It also gives you an idea of what to look for in terms of computer specs / power.

For just MMO's here and there it is fine
But if you might want to play some modern games it definitely doesn't seem like the perfect choice
But just for school it is fine.
