Pointing stick.

There was a convertible trackball+mouse as in the video.
Then they created a miniature trackball and it was shrunken again and was moved between the keys as Trackpoint as a solid state pressure sensitive made with a custom designed IC from Philips Electronics. I was working with the early Thinkpads in 1992. It was copied by Dell and others with less accuracy and they named it a pointing stick.
