I need something light to carry with my books at college and I really like the yoga bit a friend said that surface is better although it's a little over my budget. So I need some help!

Both are good and light. While the specs for surface 3 are much better. You should consider what you will be using it for… If your course require better computer, then you should take surface 3. If not, yoga 2 will be just enough for normal usage.
