Anyone with an idea on GSM/HSDPA can explain the difference between these two tablets?

The Lenovo IdeaTab A2107 and the Lenovo IdeaTab A3000.

The later has a quad core CPU, and overall better specs, yet it's a few dollars more expensive.
By comparing specs, I can only see different in carrier information, but I have no idea how this affect me.

Does the A3000 supports 3g connection? If the device doesn't have GPRS or EDGE, then what's the point of having SIM card slot in the first place?!

Global System for Communications aka GSM is used by t mobil and att High-Speed Downlink Packet Access aka hspda is used in some att smart phones i guess hspda is considered 4G for att it downloads faster data than 3G The A3000 is available in Wi-Fi-only and Wi-Fi-3G models, so there are models that support 3G.
