How to Improve Dolphin Emulator Speed?

I have a gaming laptop y40-80, I'm very new to this whole pc master race so I don't even know what specs you ll need so I ll link it below. I have PCSX2 emulator and get almost 100 per cent speeds while playing persona 3, so my assumption is that the emulation of Dolphin is more complicated (that is what I have gathered from foraging online) and that specific games are even more difficult than others. Anyway the game I d like to get running is Wind Waker and right now I get 15-18 fps and was wondering if there was any tweaks that could be done to improve it. Thanks for putting up with my woeful ignorance.

There's little that you can do other than get a computer that has a faster processor and more memory.

It does take more power to emulate a Wii vs. A PS2 (one generation newer).

Wind waker is one of the least demanding games lol. I can get 200% speed on an my old laptop which had an i5-2450m lmao

Make sure your laptop is running cool (id recommend using a laptop cooler), and that it is plugged in. Then go to power options (in control panel) and select the "high performance" power plan.

Doing the above steps will allow your cpu to hit the turbo boost frequencies. With both cores active it can achieve a max of ~2.9ghz. @ 2.9ghz on a modern broadwell intel cpu, you should be able to get majority of games running at full speed.

But id still recommend reducing cpu load as much as possible. Close unneeded applications eating cpu resources in background. (hopefully you went here: https://www.microsoft.com/.../windows10 and downloaded the windows 10 iso, put it on a dvd/flash drive and wipe the hdd and reinstall windows when you got your laptop, like you should always do with any prebuilt pc. As its a drastic performance loss if you leave the stock settings/bloatware/etc that comes pre-loaded)

Your gpu is also decent, but don't under-estimate the gpu load going crazy with them can go. You should be able to easily do 3x native (1080P). Id take it in steps to see how high you can go with different settings, but first start from default with maybe 3x native, and then try adding things like AA and per pixel lighting and etc features. And make sure dolphin is using your amd gpu and not your integrated one. Force settings in your graphic control panel if needed.

lastly make sure you are using the latest development versions which can be found here: https://dolphin-emu.org/
