I'm looking to buy a tablet not sure where to start. Any

I guess i should say i'm "considering" buying a tablet.

basically, games, music, and going to gaiaonline (to chat) and maybe some writing is all i'm going to be doing on it (more or less. )

but i'm not looking for anything to break my minimum wage budget. So what would the best brand/modle be for my basic needs, thats not also going to cost an arm and leg?

A windows 8 tablet would be better for you but since you are on a constricted budget I recommend Android. A Lenovo Ideapad A1000 or A3000 would be good for you. You will want these apps.

Google Chrome- For Book Mark Syncing and to play your game

Teamviewer- To connect to any home pc's

Polaris Office- For writing

Evernote- Note taking or writing

AVG Antivirus- To protect yourself from viruses

You will also want a case & Stand in one along with a Bluetooth Keyboard.

Tablets are harder to pick then a normal PC.

First you have to figure out the size you want 7-8 inch one, or a 10in one. 10 in is better for most things but is bigger and usually you don't carrier it around much.

You then need to figure out which direction you want to go.

Apple with an ipad (cost a little more, but really does get the most apps)
Google/Android/Kindle. A little cheaper.
Windows… Still getting there.

First things first. Tablets are not made for typing much more than a basic e-mail. Anything more than that you should buy a keyboard. Just know that going in.

For Android tablets are nice, I just wish they made better ones. Don't get me wrong, Sony, Samsung have good tablets. But they just seem to be missing something. The Kindle tablets, even though they are Android, they pretty much have an amazon skin on top. They are nice, but everything goes through Amazon. (where as other Android tablets aren't that way).

Windows Surface tablets are nice and come with a Keyboard cover. But you have realize this is still a tablet, and not a full version of windows.

Most windows tablets should let you do most of what you need, they are behind in the apps, but its still a good value.

First you have to choose between Android and Windows; this will eliminate lots of choices
After this choose the size (7" or 9' or 10' … )
Then a brand (Asus, Toshiba.)
I would prefer buying the Toshiba Excite 7" AT3-A281 or an Asus Memo Pad in this budget

Usually a local stone quarry can help you, but there are newer ways of keeping track of information, such as a pen and paper. I appreciate your interest in the old methods though. Happy chiseling!
