I have an Insignia brand tablet. I took it from the shelf recently ( I had not used it in a few weeks) and I saw that the casing was separated at the sides on top and it appears that some part inside had expanded or exploded.
I have a Lenovo laptop which had a battery inside that appeared to be sealed in some kind of plastic covering and it too seemed to have swelled up as if air had gotten inside, but not to the extent of this Insignia tablet.
Is there a name for this kind of malfunction or occurrence in tablets and laptops? I did not store the items in the bathroom or where there's a lot of humidity.
Anyone knowledgeable enough to know what happened?
What does it mean when my android tablet has exploded?
I would contact the companies that produce the laptops and ask about their refund policy.
Batteries or some other part going bad? Contact the customer service you already paid for.
Or buy fire insurance.
Lithium batteries swell, it's part of the chemical process in them, and it's actually a gas that makes them swell, not moisture.
When they fail they swell a lot, or they fail because they've swollen too much -- the two issues feed into each other.
Yes it means that you have gotten devices with defective lithium batteries in it if you can get the battery out and get rid of it in a safe manner do so if you can't get rid of the whole device before the battery ruptures and you have a fire lithium batteries have a tendency to catch on fire when they burst this is usually due to being charged with a higher voltage than what is intended
The swellings are from the batteries both of which are defective lithium-ion and need replacing. They are quite dangerous in this state and need to be disposed of properly not by dumping them in the bin.
Either take them to a local tech, or if you have already removed the batteries, take them to a local recycling centre where they can be disposed of safely
Well I do have rather pitiful experience with North American bottom feeder companies, at least Chinese direct sellers are honest and reasonable, while these American bottom feeders are really getting the same things from China, package and box them and put a price tag on them that they do not deserve.
Obvious this should be return and refunded, or at least warranty right should be exercised in the "debate"
