Why does my wireless keep cutting out on my PC?

I have a Windows 8 Lenovo PC and for whatever reason my wireless stops working for a period of time every now and then. I have a centurylink modem and I'm connected wirelessly. Every so often no matter what I'm doing it will randomly stop working, and won't work for up to 5 minutes if I do nothing, during this period, I can use the Wi-Fi on any other device perfectly, and if I disconnect and reconnect on my computer it works perfectly until it stops working again. NOTE: it does not show a yellow caution symbol to show the connection is limited when it cuts out nor does it ever completely disconnect on its own. NOTE 2: I have portforwarded some ports and do have a static IP address.

If it is only on your one computer, check the power management settings in the Wi-Fi adapter (device manager). Turn off anything that looks like "let Windows manage power". Also, check the power profiles you have set, either on battery or plugged in. Make sure any network adapters are never turned off at any time.
