Can a virus stop my computer from turning on?

I was messing around on my lenovo c340 and the update needed pop-up came up, so I pressed restart, and the computer turned off. I waited about a half an hour for it to turn back on, or show anything, and it didn't, so I went over and pressed the power switch (it was dark, meaning it was off) to turn it on. Nothing happened, so I tried again, nothing. I checked all the plugs, and everything was properly connected, so I tried unplugging the cord and plugging it into a different outlet. Still nothing. I decided to wait about 4 hours and try it again, which I did. Nothing. I have tried holding the button down, resetting the fuse and everything.

You should still be able to turn it on and get some form of power if it was a virus so I doubt it is a virus and I'd assume it is a hardware problem. Try taking the battery out and holding the button in. Then try turning it on without the battery on (using electricity), if nothing happened then put the battery back in and try turning it on. Other than that I don't know what else to suggest other than taking it to a store to see if they can repair it… Something has probably failed or broken.

This sounds like a hardware problem than a malware problem the power supply seems to be shorted out
