My computer caught a virus?

So I have a Lenovo laptop, it is on windows 10. I was downloading a game, trying to work my way around buying it (I will never do that again) and it ended up making my computer continuously crash, or restart. I only get 5 seconds after I log in and it just restarts. I tried removing the battery, restarting, I tried to log out but it took too long for it to open and it restarted. What do I do?

Run the antivirus

Oh

Your computer caught a virus? My God, flu season hit hard this year; get some medication for it at the pharmacy.

Me i would boot computer in safe mode, then try to download and run malwarebites on it to remove it.Im not a computer expert just something i learned when i infected my computer with adware

Install an antivirus software. There may be many free versions.Avast antivirus is a good solution. And also install a malware detecter.Use safemode if it is difficult to figure out if it continuously restarting even when installing the virus guard.

you can switch to the safemode by pressing F8 button while the computer starts booting

It sounds like my desktop. The hard drive is dead. It can\t get started.

So it's time to scan it.

After hitting the power button start depessing and releasing the F8 key repeatedly until you see a screen that offers you several options; safe mode and safe mode with networking are the first 2 of many. I usually choose the latter as you can still access the internet for direct downloads (anti virus like AVG free and others). I just did a laptop that wouldn't allow me to install AVG but I did get Advanced SystenCare 7 to load (no longer available but I like it because it still works on XP). After running that I was still unable to load AVG, so I downloaded and ran SOPHOS rootkit removal. Finally I was able to load AVG and run it. It also helps to have an external HD to load programs onto the infected PC, plus you can use it to store things you never want to loose. You can also use a memory stick.

1. Disconnect and isolate. If every person in your sister's email address book got infected by malicious code -- a.k.a.A virus -- then chances are so did you.

2.Clean up. Once your computer has been disconnected, you need to remove the malicious code.

3.Reinstall.

4.Scan for viruses.

5.Back up your data.

6.Prevent future attacks.
