I have just rescued my old Lenovo Think Centre desktop from the understairs cupboard where it has gathered dust for a couple of years for my son to use in his workshop. It had a legitimate copy of Microsoft Office 2007 in it but when i originally installed that i did not take up the option to save the installation files as i had the disc. I no longer have the disc (or can't find it which is effectively the same thing) and my son has just replaced Win XP pro with Windows 7 and no files were carried forward. Now he did think to burn the Microsoft Office 2007 files to DVD using Nero before he did the o/s change. However, whilst he has all the Office files on the burned disc there are no setup/install files so he can't put the program back in. Maybe he could copy and paste each and everyone of the myriad files making up the program but that would take ages and neither of us have any idea if that would produce a working Office 2007 program again. As you will gather, both he and i are long time computer users but know just enough to do what we do with our computers and nothing more so in real terms are probably not truly computer literate. Have any of you knowledgeable guys out there got any ideas' on how we can get the Office 2007 in and working again?
Microsoft Office 97 problem?
You can't copy/paste software from a computer to another. You have to INSTALL it.
Next, Office 97 will not run on Windows 7.
Since you now have Windows 7, you will have to buy either Office 2007, Office 2010, Office 2013, or use the cloud version called Office 365.
Keep in mind also that you have two free choices available to you:
1) Microsoft provides their office software for free online. All you need to do is create yourself a Microsoft account to log in and use it. That is here:

2) You can install a generic version of Office software. It will edit or create any Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint or Access file. That is here

You title this question Office 97 then talk only about Office 2007. I wassume that you really mean Office 2007.
If you still have the Product Key you can download the original installation files from here…

If not, you probably have lost it.
I agree with both but especially with Alan. Is it Office 97 or 2007 that makes a BIG difference to your options.
