After a recent Windows 10 update, my PC has been going at a snail s pace. What are some ways that I can improve its performance that won't require me changing any of its internal parts?
Also, it's a Lenovo. Just in case this tidbit may help.

You may have logged in before its finished its updating. If i were you i would as a minimum do a Full Disk Check and make sure it completes and is successful. Then worry about how its doing. The most likely cause is 1) bad disck blocks which check disk should fix 2) a filing system error, which check disk will fix. 3) Ram is LOW, anything less than 4GB is going to be SLOW, 8GB would be a sensible lower RAM requirement these days. Anything else, re-install windows. The link below lists other things that you could check.

Use a program like CCleaner to keep it clean, also Malwearbites will detect spywear which slows down your computer. And should be used on a regular basis.Use Opera to surf the Internet as it works better and faster on older computers but also keep the cashe clean on a regular basis… Take as many programs out that you can delete everything you do not use or is non essential… Disable any non essential programs from the start menu. Your PDF program, your messenger, your face book page do not need to start right away only when you use them also any updating programs should be stoped in start up except windows update… And just generally speaking keep the computer as clean as you can on a continuing basis.
