Please help.
Thanks in advance.

Added (1). It said 1TB on the box

Added (2). The laptop is not used it's completely new. I bought it in a shop.

Perhaps he ripped you off by removing the larger one. Laptops don't normally have enough space for more than one hard dive.

Take it back then

Well there various models in the Y50 series… Which one do you have…1 model has a 1tb drive…1 model has a 500 gig hard drive…1 model has a 512 gig SSD…

You say it new… Did it come in the factory sealed box? Or was the box open?

Either way… Take the unit and the box it came in back to that store… Make them show you where is this 1 tb drive that it says it has on the box… If they can't or won't show you… Get a refund…

A laptop with two hard disks is unlikely, but the 1 TB hard disk could have been partitioned into two The best first step is to determine the model of hard disk that's To do -

While pressing the Windows key (usually labeled "Start" or with the Microsoft flag), tap the X Click Device Expand the Disk Drives Note the make and exact, complete model number of the hard disk.

Perform a Web search on the make and model to locate information about the Update your original question with the make and model, and any additional information (don't use the Comment feature).

Lol, I guess most who responded don't know laptops. Most laptops now have at least 2 hard drive bays. My laptop from back in 2006 has 2 bays. In fact now most are starting to come with 3-4 bays with an option to remove your cd/DVDs drive and have that as a hard drive bay as well.

Now, verify your model type. Make sure it was supposed to even have a 1tb hard drive. And then check if it was 1 hard drive or 2. If 2 then you should be able to take the bottom off and access were the hard drives are at. And check if it has 1 or 2 hard drives. If only 1 then the rest is between you and who you got it from.

Go into Disk Management and look at the drive partitions. It may be that the second partition is there, just not initialized or formatted. Once you format it, it becomes the D drive.
A 1TB drive gives a user space of about 935GB, and if almost 300GB is used as C:, your D: drive will become about 635GB.

If not sure about all this, take it back to the store and get them to set up the second partition for you.
