Advantages of Solid State Drive (SSD)?

I'm planning to buy the Lenovo Ideapad Y510p. Should I buy the SSD configuration, though 1 TB HDD is more than enough?

Make sure to note that the SSD is (most probably) a lot smaller in storage space than the mentioned 1 TB harddisk. That being said, GET AN SSD!

Allow me to elaborate: Save for the difference in storage space (and price, SSD is a tad more expensive) the SSD has two really big advantages: First off, it's way faster than a classic harddisk. This is due to the nature of the device; an SSD is basically a big memory stick, whereas a harddisk is a spinning piece of magnetic metal.

Secondly, an SSD has no mechanical parts (like the spinning stuff in a harddisk), and is more shockproof because of that. This means accidental laptop-drops (which do happen) won't have to mean a loss of data.

TL;DR: get an SSD if you can afford it, and if you can spare the difference in storage space.

Sure, bro.
Go for SSD. It's much much faster, more reliable, and lives longer than hdd.

SSDs have no moving parts, making them more durable (less prone to shock like jolts/being dropped) and use less power.

They also have much higher throughput, making the laptop feel much faster. The difference is pretty big, like booting into Windows in a matter of seconds instead of a matter of minutes.
