Alienware 14 i5 vs Lenovo y510p vs my mx18 i7 2nd gen?

I currently own a mx18 alienware 2nd gen with i7 processor and 8gb ram.
It's quick but portability is a nightmare it's bulky and I have quite a few large format printers for graphics work and it's a nightmare carrying it up and down the stairs all the time. Am after something easier to move and possibly to upgrade to faster machine.

How does the i5 4th gen intel processor compare to my current i7 2nd gen processor. I heard the new 4th gen i processors are a lot quicker then the old older ones for processor demanding tasks like graphics work. Not sure how that compares from an i7 2nd gen to a i5 4th gen.

I've had quite a few laptops/pcs. Use to follow latest technology when I use to game 7 years ago and at uni but lost what's good now. My Alienware on the same level as a high powered PC in my eyes. It's served me well am just getting sick of carrying around to printer & clients home.

Any advise from a techy would be great.

Hi, the 4th gen i5 is definetly faster. For portablity i have to suggest the Asus Zenbook if youre willing to pay a bit. Look up the specs. This 1/2 inch bad boy can run battlefield 4 and last 2 weeks on standby and is extremely light and fast. A touch screen and encased in corning gorilla glass 3. Its beautiful.

One you have high range. I suggest you to lenovo. This company products are amazing, no complaints.

its all depends on you, hwy you want what work do you want to do on 2nd laptop. If no work or smalloffice work, or less requirements. I prefer cheap one from asus… Provide i5. Cheap and light.
