I got it 18 months ago. I can't return it in because the warranty is over. I have no experience with opening up hardware, but I know a bit about software. Somebody please help.

Those lines are caused by a damaged screen… The only fix is to replace the screen which can cost upto $200

Try flexing the frame, see if it will fix it.

It's not software it needs a new screen and power inverter look on eBay! For a screen cheap! It's no harder to replace a screen than it is to mount a picture in a frame
