Both rams work exactly the same, however they are not compatable, in order to compensate, the normal speed ddr3 will have to lower its clock speed to run at ddr3l voltages

No the RAM in your old Samsung laptop won't be compatible with the new laptop, if you put it in it won't boot up… Been there done that
