Google Chrome taking forever to update/re-install?

On my Lenovo laptop, while i was using Chrome, it wanted me to update to the latest version and that was about 10am.
I don't think it is supposed to take hours to update, so I decided to uninstall Chrome and re-install it, but it is still taking a long time.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Try a clean boot which will only start the bare minimum of services needed to run your computer. Once you have Google Chrome installed you can start turning things back on but I suggest only switching on what you strictly need.

To enter a clean boot state, type msconfig in start search and hit Enter to open the System Configuration Utility. Click the General tab, and then click Selective Startup. Clear the Load Startup Items check box. Finally, ensure that Load System Services and Use Original boot configuration are checked.

Next, click the Services tab. Select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box. Now click Disable all.

Click Apply/OK and restart the computer. This will put Windows into a clean boot state.
