I have a Lenovo ThinkPad T61. I tried using the blue ThinkVantage button while starting the computer but that won't work.
How do you factory reset my computer?

Its possible the disk drive has been replaced after a failure of the original drive. In that case, there's no restore image or option. You will have to go to the Lenovo web site and see if you can find an image to download that has a restore on it…

Somebody may have already erased the recovery partition and reinstalled windows and never bothered to make a new system image. You can try f8 at startup. Which will take you to the recovery screen where it says repair my computer and click on that and see if there's a factory recovery option there may or may not be.
