How to fix a laptop that makes sounds despite being on silent?

I have a Lenovo Yoga 370 laptop and I always have it on silent, however it continues to make some sounds. For example, when I plug the charger into the laptop it produces a very loud notification sound. Most other sounds are muted, but a few like the one I mentioned are not. Can someone please explain to me how can I go about fixing this problem?

How to disable sound for notifications using Settings
If you want to turn off the sound for notifications, you can quickly do this for each application using the Settings app.

Open Settings.
Click on System.
Click on Notifications & actions.
Under "Get notifications from these senders," click the app you want.
