How to minimize a major Videogame?

I have a laptop for school, and some classes are just too boring, so i would rather play games like Rome 2: Total War, Civ V, etc. When I'm in the game I have to hit Ctrl+Alt+Del to minimize the game. I have a Windows 8 Lenovo p500 touch. Is there a faster way to minimize the game so I don't get caught? A short cut or anything?

Added (1). I have tried multiple ways, like the Windows button, Windows button+m/tab, and nothing has worked.

How about the old standard alt+tab? Not only will it work, it will bring up what you are supposed to be doing instead.

Change settings to windowed mode and minimize it, or alt + tab, or windows + tab
