I have downloaded few movies through torrent. I used MPC-HC, it worked well in the beginning but now it stuck at certain points. Tried VLC but no gain. But whenever i play it, my disk usage goes 100 percent whereas i have much space on Hard disk. I have.
8GB RAM
Intel Core i5
Lenovo G510
I can't play HD movies on laptop smoothly, any idea?
Try disabling unwanted programs running in background
The problem is that you have a very slow 5400rpm hard drive.
Try putting your movies on a USB 3.0 flash drive.
Your i5 may have poor Intel HD (there are many versions) but it should play video ok. Reasons why it might be slow in no particular order. 1) your resource meter may show very high cpu % 2) your resource meter may show System RAM very high % used. 3) you may be trying to play a Non Native sized movie, eg you have a 1366x768 screen and trying to play a 1920x1080 movie. This might cause the player to spend a long time converting each frame during playback. 4) you may be on go slow save battery POWER SCHEME. 5) your i5 may be throttling back(it has variable speed cpu) 6) your AV may be ON turn it OFF so long as you are not on-line 7) your hard drive may have a few bad blocks. Run your diagnostics, lenovo's have good diags. 8) the movie may be a non supported CODEC.(CODEC's are often built into hardware to make then fast, your i5 has go slow gpu with very little embedded codec features).
