Is a touchscreen laptop's screen fragile in a school environment?

Hi, I'm a school student looking to purchase a Lenovo think pad edge series E440. I was wondering if a touchscreen is more fragile than a lcd and by how much. Also if it were to break how much would it cost to repair.

Both lcd and touchscreen are fragile. However just that the touchscreen have sensing electrical circuit behind the screen. Just use hard shell case to protect your tablet.
