I brought a lenovo thinkpad edge, and it starts up fine, but while i'm on it, the screen will flicker to black, and then it will do one beeping noise.(its like its suspended) It starts back up, and then will do this again, after some time. It didn't come with an OS, so i downloaded linux, and that is all. When I'm charging it i notice it does this less often.

Then email the seller and tell them and wait for what they say. If they are decent they will let you send it back to them and reinburse full costs.
If they play up, ebay will help, because they are more for the buyer than the seller!

Google to find out what the beep codes mean. When you know what the beep codes mean, you'll know what to do.
There's a good chance this is no worse than a dud battery (always a risk when buying on eBay).
Lenovo Thinkpads work very well with Linux - you made a good choice there.

Usually one beep means bad RAM.Replacing module can fix this problem.
