Lenovo laptop screen light problem

Added (1). my laptop is lenovo z50, when i shut down my laptop or turn off the screen light, from cornor of the monitor the light blink, what is the reason is it going to die the monitor?

I was hoping somebody could help me. I was tryng to turn the brightness of my screen up using the F12 button. The screen suddenly dimmed to a minimum and won't get any brighter. I can just about make out the screen but I was wondering what I can do to rectify this, or whether it is just broken?
