I have a Lenovo y50 bought about 3 years ago. Specs are i7 4710hq with gtx 960m. Under display it shows my monitor is 48hz. I recently got a 144hz gaming monitor from msi(mag241c) from a friend who left the country and was wondering if I could connect it from my laptop for better refresh rate. I'd have to buy a hdmi cable but no use if I can't get better refresh rate so… I'm not sure what version of hmdi port this lenovo y50 has (not the 4k version) but I read somewhere hmdi 1.4? Or 1.4a? Not sure about the differences. Games that I play give easily more than 120hz as I play not so modern and not so demanding games. Would be nice if I can take advantage of the 144hz monitor! Any information would be nice!
Lenovo y50 960m, can I hook it up on a 144hz monitor?
Nihal
Just try it and see.
The HDMI cable version is pretty much irrelevant, one from a pound shop will work as well as a stupidly expensive one.
