My headphones won't work in my laptop?

So i have a Lenovo laptop! And recently the headphones stopped working, Nothing's broken in it i'm sure, and i tired all different types of headphone. But it's getting really annoying! How can I fix it?

Oh dear have you been into settings to make sure you haven't muted the headphone socket?
(Do this before you go looking at Davids… On second thought pay no attention to Davids info)

If the sound isn't muted then try reinstalling the drivers for your sound card (look for yellow exclamation marks in HARDWARE)

ONLY once you've done these checks and nothing works should you consider that the hardware is broken.

This is a hardware problem if you have tried several headphones and none work, then the fault it either on the motherboard or the headphone jack, so there's nothing you can do yourself to fix it. A fix would mean either a replacement motherboard if the sound chip is faulty or a replacement headphone jack which would still mean a laptop stripdown and the jack renewed, both are likely to be expensive.
A cheaper alternative is to buy a USB audio dongle such as this

Which will give you a new set if mic and headphone jack
