My laptop suddenly started running really slow. How do i fix it?

I dunno if this has been asked before for my particular situation. Basically, I have a lenovo laptop, running on windows 7.

I was on it the other day and it was running super fast. All I did was get on wattpad and write a bit, check my emails, and then got off. When I went to get on the next morning, it was running slow. Very slow. I didn't download anything weird at anytime, so I don't think I have a virus. Plus, I have anti-virus software. It also keeps doing weird things like going to the home screen without any of the icons. And sometimes when I try to turn it off it shows all these weird images and websites, so I'm guessing I have a virus. But it will turn off.

Has anyone else had this problem before? Also, any way I can fix it at home?

Scan the hard drive with SeaTools for DOS. If it passes, scan with SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition and Malwarebytes and remove anything they found.

Malwarebytes is for Malware that is not a Virus.

A Virus is only one type of infection your computer can get. It is a good program to use WITH your anti virus program.

One thing you should check is MSCONFIG > Start Up TAB and UN TIC Everything except your Anti Virus Program.

Download and run Malwarebytes antivirus. It is the best program that I have come across that can remove any type of virus or trojan. Plus it is free!
