My Laptop won't turn on and I'm not sure what to do?

I own a Lenovo K55VD laptop and it's not switching on. The Power light comes on, including charger light and Wi-Fi light, but the screen won't start and it doesn't seem to be booting up. This will only happen if the charger is plugged in too. I tried to order a new battery and charger but that didn't help either. I did spill some water over the keyboard while ago, but that was a year before it stopped working. I was told by someone that the motherboard had died and it's unfixable.

What do you think has stopped working and if it is the motherboard, can it be repaired?

It may or may not be fixable, you would need to take it to a workshop who are prepared to do component level repairs. All you can do is ask them to have a look. It may have been due to the liquid spill, you can get corrosion under the chips which manifest 6-12m later after the original event.

The K55 series has a removable battery if Google is correct. Flip it over and there's usually a latch or two that holds the battery in place. Push them and take the battery off, and unplug any cables or peripherals including the charger.

Push and hold the power button for about 15 seconds. This will generally drain any remaining electricity from the capacitors and "fully" power it off. Once you're done holding the button, reinsert the battery and try to power the laptop on again.

If it works, you're good to go. If it's still dead even with the AC adapter plugged in, you've got deeper hardware issues that you'll probably want a professional to look at, unless you're feeling confident enough to change out a laptop motherboard.
