My school gave me a laptop?

So my school is getting new laptops so we're allowed to keep the old ones. Mine is a Lenovo Windows laptop. The school has downloaded a lot of different things:

Java
Internet Explorer
Sticky Notes
Microsoft (Paint, Office, etc.)

I would like to reset this laptop to customize it myself (and to make it faster) but I don't want to delete these programs.
Is there any way to do this?

If not, is there somewhere I can reset settings or something? And what should I do to customize it and make it faster?

You can't wipe it without losing Microsoft Office which costs over £100 to replace. Java IE and paint come with the Operating System.

All you can really do it perform maintenance on it such as disk cleanup, defragment. Maybe install a different antivirus if the one you have is heavy on resources. Without knowing its specs and the AV installed, version of Windows etc there really isn't much more I can advise you on.

Usually the laptops the school have are not as good, but there are ways to make the computer perform faster. You can perform a disk clean up and run disk defragmenter from the system tools. From the hardware side depending on the laptop you might be able to upgrade the RAM.

You can go to control panel and uninstall programs
