My touchpad stopped working?

I was about to click onto my Lenovo idea pad 100s when the touchpad became unresponsive, the mouse itself has disappeared. I restarted my laptop and went to the settings, but nothing. I'm really careful with my laptop, I haven't dropped it in the past or anything. It usually stays on my bed or in its case, nowhere else. What else can I do to make the mouse work again besides taking it to the shop?

You need to plug in an external mouse to see if it is the TouchPad that is unresponsive or if it is something with the computer. If the mouse has disappeared, it could be something else.
Furthermore, the software could be messed up for the TouchPad or the computer could be afflicted with a virus… Or the TouchPad could have become unplugged. There's no way to tell without first seeing where the problem lies. If the external mouse works, you will need to check your mouse settings and the TouchPad settings to make sure everything is OK including the drivers installed properly. (all of this you can figure out via Google if you do not know how). If everything is OK driver and software wise, you will need to make sure the hardware did not come unplugged. This is much more complicated and you might need a technician to assist.
