New Laptop for Freshman College Student?

I'm going to start my 1st year in college this fall and I'm in the market for a laptop. Only problem is picking up one. I plan to have a budget of around $500 but no more than $600. Here's what I'm looking for (besides price):
-Portable (between 13.3" and 15.6")
-Durable (Tough Plastic or Aluminum)
-Decent Specs (processor, HDD, screen)
-OS doesn't matter
-Manufacture doesn't matter

I'm not looking for a death-defying gaming machine. Just one for common task like web browsing, online videos, and simple office multitasking. Occasionally I will want to use programs like Photoshop and simple video editing. Anyone who has been to college might more or less know what I'm on about.

I'm eyeing right now for the Lenovo IdeaPad U430p (It's on sale for $559.99) That should give an idea as to what I'm looking for. Good offer or is there anything that can beat it in specs or price? Honest answers will be appreciated. Thank you.

Look for a long lasting battery and lightweight as priorities. You are in the right price range for a decent computer that will last you 2-3 years. Take this to your local tech store and tell them what you need.
