What is the best laptop to get?

I'm a computer science major, so I will be doing a lot of programming on it. I don't want to spend a ton of money either, so what kind do you suggest?

Get a Lenovo Y series laptop if you want a powerful computer for you money. Its a gaming laptop. It is in the $800-$1200 range. If you want a decent fast laptop then you will probably spend $500-$800.

I'm also in computer science. I have a Lenovo (windows). I was planning on starting a business and creating android and iphone apps. Iphone apps can only be developed (from my understanding) using a mac. So this is just a heads up.

I like windows and use it bc it is the standard. If you feel like spending around $1500 -$2000 dollars and like macs, then get it. I wouldn't get the Macbook Air bc it is not powerful enough. I would get the Macbook Pro, if i wanted to get one.

DO NOT GET A MAC.

If you know anything about computers, Macs(and Apple products in general) are extremely overpriced and very underpowered.

Things to note when looking for a computer to use in your field:
10+ GB of ram
1.5TB+ hard drive
Powerful processor
Powerful graphics card(Nvidia 800 series)

Anything that isn't a Mac.

Dell or Toshiba

Mac book air

I prefer HP

YOUR A COMPUTER SCIENCE MAJOR. YOU SHOULD ALREADY KNOW THIS.

Asus G73JH

Most of the college students will just get mac. If you aren't mac fans, just get regular window laptop with 15.6" screen and optional optical drive (depend on your course requirement).

Although you are doing a lot of programming, however you do no need a powerful laptop. You just need a laptop that able to compile your programming in less than 0.3 secs and reliable laptop that protect from data loss.

i would suggest either toshiba or lenovo.
Avoid Dell, acer and HP.
Asus is more to gaming.
