I'm planning to buy
HP Laptop with
i5-7200U 7th Gen or i7-7500U 7th Gen
DDR4 8 to 16 GB RAM
Windows OS
And my requirement is
Watching Movies through internet
Running some oracle applications
(Not playing any games)
Please suggest me, because i have heard that buying 4k may be problematic but not sure Ok here's the thing.
The other answers here kinda get it right, but they miss the point of 4K on a laptop screen. The point isn't to play 4K content, the point is to make your UI look really sharp. Like the Macbook Retina displays -- they double the resolution in both dimensions so that the UI looks ultra crisp. You also have the option of lowering your scaling settings below 200% to be able to fit more windows onscreen than 1080p.
**BUT** Here s the problem. All of HP's 15.6" laptops that advertise 4K UHD 3840x2160 displays, or offer them as upgrade options, are using fake-4K RG/BW Pentile displays:
RG/BW Pentile fake-4K displays don't look nearly as clear as true-4K displays, and can lose important detail in certain applications. RG/BW Pentile displays are not worth the upgrade from 1080p, in my opinion.
------
If you're getting this HP (and it's the 15.6" model), don't bother with 4K. Because it's fake. However, REAL 4K displays can be nice -- but you have to get a REAL one.
REAL 4K displays exist in the following laptops
- Dell XPS 15 4K: https://www.microsoftstore.com/....326871600 (Note: i5-6300HQ is FASTER than i7-7500U)
- Lenovo Yoga 15 2-in-1 @Best Buy http://www.bestbuy.com/...Id=5579132
- Lenovo Y700 4K http://shop.lenovo.com/...:0001A46C:
- HP Pavilion/Envy/Omen 17t (the 17.3" one. All 17.3" 4K displays in laptops right now are true 4K displays)
The specs pages do not indicate which laptops use false 4K displays, so I have individually confirmed all these models to be real 4K displays:
- Dell XPS 15 4K: I own it
- Lenovo 2-in-1: It's in Best Buy as a floor model, and I checked the screen
- Lenovo Y700 4K: I found places selling the replacement LCD and confirmed the model number of it to be true 4K.

Another bit: Unless you have a specific need, don't worry about processors and RAM. Most processors and RAM are plenty for most users. That, and RAM can be upgraded after-market if you need to.
------ That's a lot of money for something a basic WIndows tablet could do…
A Full HD resolution (1920x1080) is plenty in a laptop screen. Using a 4K screen at 15", standard desktop icons are absolutely tiny. You can adjust them of course, but you have to adjust almost everything to be able to see anything, other than 4K video.
Others may argue that 4K is the way to go. And that is fine. I don't think it is necessary until you get to a much larger screen. Go with Full High Definition (FHD) laptop. 4K laptops are expensive & 4K content is very rare
With FHD laptops, you can easily watch 1080p quality videos
