My last laptop (an Acer) was plagued with charger issues. We sent it in for repairs 4 times within a few months before we gave up and got rid of it entirely. At the time, we had thought it was just a bad laptop and worse customer service. So when we got my new one, we made sure to get a different brand. This is a Lenovo Ideapad S400 Touch. All of a sudden, as of last night, the charger port began to come a bit loose. I didn't pay it too much attention, because in my previous experience, charger ports can last a few days or weeks more before they become absolutely unusable. But I just sat down to plug in my laptop again, maybe 12 hours later, and the cable wouldn't even stay in. My laptop will not charge by any means now. Is this problem just way more common than I thought? In that case, why did it never happen with my first two laptops? Is it possible that I have been doing something to cause this to happen to my computers over and over again? And most importantly, how can I fix it?
Latptop charger port loose. Again?
You will have to send it for repair probably, check the charging tip is not faulty rather than the socket. This is a weak spot in any laptop especially if they are moved around without the cable being disconnected, this puts a fair amount of strain on the DC socket
If the barrel terminal is stressed in any direction contrary to the normal straight in/out force (when you 'plug in' the charger), that can deform either the barrel plug, or the female socket inside the lapper.
The 'wobble' action stretches the metal beyond what the snug-fit dimensions are when it's new.
That in turn interrupts contact surface area and leads to power failure.
It looks like the charger barrel end is perpendicular to the device, which makes it a bit hard to eliminate those stresses, but if possible, try not to apply any contrary pressure on the cord or the barrel, especially when moving around with the laptop.
Unplug that until you get it in position, then re attach the barrel.
