What type of router is best for a college dorm?

So in August I will be moving into a single college dorm room with pretty bad Wi-Fi. So, I'm thinking about getting a router for my room. I will need to run a lenovo gaming laptop, an iphone, ipad, and a xbox one. Since its just for my room compactability is very important but range isn't a top priority (throughput over range, although more range doesn't hurt). It should to be dual band and preferably 802.11ac, also no antennas (that's not a requirement just a personal preference). I have a Netgear N600 Premium that my parents bought in 2011 that they can give me (they only used it for like 2 months), but i don't know if that router is fast enough given the pace at which technology has advanced.

Some ones i've looked into: Netgear R6300, Asus RT-AC87u, Asus RT-AC68u, and Trednet AC1900 Dual Band.

They should all be fine, nobody pays that much attention to routers, just get any one of them.

Before you buy anything, see if the Dorm permits you to do this. Many colleges will prohibit this and have the means to detect and disable all wireless units from functioning. There's NO way around this once it finds you and it will find you. Once you find that this is permitted (if it is permitted) then you can install most any device that conforms to their use criteria.
