I want to major in Computer Science, and I know that I want to invest in a new laptop. Here's the question: Apple or Windows? I don't want to hear apple/window fanboy answers, I want logic related to the types of things I will be doing on it in a computer science class, such as coding.
Which Computer Should I Get for Computer Science?
It really up to your own preference or maybe your college requirements. MBA & MBP are suitable for CS according to CS students. However, when you need Window to run apps, then you need to use VM. Or when you need to run disc, you need to link to another device to read the disc.
Some people like MBA or thinkpad series because they are lightweight and long battery life. However, if you have bad eyesight, the screen size kinda of small for coding and you need to link to monitor
Some just use any 15" gaming laptop e.g Lenovo Y50 so they can play games too.
Definitely Windows. Mac is for the average internet browsing, YouTube watching and Facebook checking person. Of course, the same can be done on Windows, but it's much easier to code in and for Windows. And there's also other things such as the command prompt and batch files which you're probably gonna learn about.
If yore going to major in Computer Science I HIGHLY recommend you get a PC. Think about most businesses today. They use PC's especially when it comes to third party programs and information security. Not to mention there cheaper.
I only use Windows or Linux for software work…
I agree with Windows. You'd be able to install more programs you can use for school and other activities in Windows. Apple programs are limited.
